La Paz is the capital of Baja California Sur, a Mexican state on the Baja California Sur peninsula. It is known for its oceanfront boardwalk with beaches, parks and works by international and Mexican artists. Many bars and restaurants overlook the sea, the location of La Paz makes one of the most common ways to get there is crossing the Baja California Sur Peninsula by boat or plane.
Santa Cruz Bay was the first name of this city, given by Hernán Cortés on May 3, 1535, although La Paz had a second foundation in 1596, when the navigator Sebastián Vizcaíno gave it the name we know it by today.
